As part of the Tiger release, we have added a heavily requested feature - Fax On Demand. Any WebEMR user (Physicians or Medical Records user) can search for a document and in addition to downloading/printing it (features that have been always available) now Fax it using Vianeta Data Center.

To use this feature, when you open any document in WebEMR - you now see a Fax icon among buttons at the bottom of the document. Just click on the Fax button - and you will be prompted to enter the name and fax number of the person fax should be sent to. Audit trail is automatically updated with the date/time when the fax was requested to be sent.

Autofax is a long-time feature of Vianeta platform that enables setting up rules for automatically fax certain kinds of documents to Dictating or CC physicians. These rules can be as simple as "Always fax a document to a certain physician" - or more involved - such as "When the Attending Physician in the ADT feed is not the same as the dictating physician, automatically add the Attending Physician field to CC list and Fax the document to him/her." Autofax rules are setup during initial site setup or added on later through Vianeta Professional Services help.

The Fax on Demand feature allows sending faxes in addition to any Autofax rules. There is no setup required. This feature is always available to all WebEMR users - just like the ability to Print and Download documents, and designed to be simple to use.

All WebEMR users (including Physician users) now have a Fax tab (just like Dictations, Charts etc.) and all information about faxes sent by them gets updated there. You can search for Faxes previously sent, verify success status of a fax. The fax tab (previously only available to MR users at sites that had Autofax turned on) is now available for ALL WebEMR users.

Through the Fax tab a physician user can only view the status of Fax On Demand faxes they sent themselves. MR users can see information about Fax on Demand faxes sent by all Physicians whose documents they have privileges to see. If the site has Autofax setup - the Fax tab shows you all faxes sent - including Autofax and Fax on Demand faxes.

Fax On Demand faxes are sent centrally from Vianeta Data Center. There is no setup cost. The feature becomes available as soon as a new WebEMR user is created. The cost of Fax on Demand faxes is 20 cents per page, and will be added (along with a breakup of usage) to your monthly bills. Vianeta will provide Fax On Demand for FREE till Sept 30th 2005. All faxes sent after October 1st 2005 will bear a cost of 20 cents per page, starting in your November 2005 invoice.
